The Nomad Arm Chair is the original Mustang piece — the first design our founder, Mike Waring, built for the business, and the one that set the direction for the entire Mustang Home Goods system. It established the proportions, the material honesty, and the architectural clarity that run through every product that has followed. The form is open and grounded, with a silhouette that feels substantial without overwhelming a room.

Assembly takes just 3–4 minutes with no tools required. The components lock together cleanly, creating a stable structure that feels solid and intentional. The design makes it easy to move while still offering the presence and comfort of a permanent piece of furniture. You could set up and take down this chair every day for the next twenty years and it would still fit just the same, or you could leave it in your living room for the next twenty years and it would remain just as solid.

Rooted in the Prairie School of Design, the Nomad Arm Chair carries the same quiet architectural discipline found in early American modernism. Broad surfaces, layered plywood edges, and balanced geometry give it a warm, modern presence. Many people have compared it to the furniture of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it stands as Mustang’s answer to Wright’s challenge for new students to create a chair from a single sheet of plywood — even though it was designed before Mike was aware of Wright’s furniture at all. It captures the spirit of that exercise while offering a level of comfort that Wright’s own plywood chairs weren’t designed to provide.

The chair’s geometry creates a deeply comfortable place to settle in. The proportions are tuned for lounging, with a lower seat, a generous width, and a back angle that feels natural across a wide range of body types. The ergonomics have been refined to perfection, resulting in a posture that works for reading, talking, or simply slowing down at the end of the day.

Durable and easy to live with, the Nomad Arm Chair is built from exterior‑grade Baltic birch plywood and outdoor upholstery materials. It’s designed to hold up to years of daily use. As the first piece in the Nomad system, it carries the design language that shaped every Mustang product that followed.
